Curvature: 1.4 cm (0.55 in).

Width at the tip: 2.37 cm (0.93 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.70 cm (0.28 in).
Sword weight: 595 grams.
Era: Early Edo period, around the Genroku era.
Shape: The blade has a wide Mihaba (width at the base), a thick Kasane (rim thickness), and an appropriate Sori (curvature) with a slightly extended Kissaki (tip).
Jigane: Well-tempered Itame Hada (wood grain pattern) typical of Hizen skin, also known as Konuka Hada.
Hamon: While straight Hamon are common, this piece features a bright and clear Notare Hamon with small Ashi and a large rounded Boshi (tip pattern).
Features: Omi Daijo Fujiwara Tadayoshi, known as Hashimoto Gensuke and later as Shinjiro, was the son of Mutsu-no-Kami and the 4th Tadayoshi to hold the title. He received the title of Omi Daijo in March 1700 and passed away at the age of 80 in September 1751.
Aoi Art’s comment: The 4th generation Tadayoshi often gets mistaken for the first generation. Notably, the first generation’s works are marked with “Tadayoshi,” but the fourth generation’s are not.
