We divide the craftsmanship of swordsmiths into four sections: Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku, and Regular Saku. This piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for Hizen no Kuni Harima Daijo Fujiwara Tadakuni.

Shape: Broad and thick Mi-Haba with deep curvature and an elongated Kisaki, creating a well-proportioned blade.

Hamon: Notare with small Ashi scattered throughout, bright and clear, with a long turn back at the Boshi.

Features: Hizen no Kuni Harima Daijo Fujiwara Tadakuni’s works closely resemble those of Kawachi Daijo and Kawachi-no-Kami Masahiro, characterized by their excellent quality.

Saya: Scattered Aogai (blue shell) Tsuba: Circular Shakudo base, the surface featuring a Nanako-ji background with high-relief carvings of grasshoppers, insects, grass, and chrysanthemums, highlighted with gold color inlay. Fuchikashira: High-relief carvings of plants and insects, highlighted with gold color inlay. Menuki: Shakudo base with high-relief carvings of chrysanthemum flowers, decorated with gold color inlay.

Aoi Art’s Comment: The Koshirae features a Shakudo base with autumn grass and insects, a pattern famously associated with Mino Goto. The blade by Hizen no Kuni Harima Daijo Fujiwara Tadakuni is well-crafted, exhibiting high-quality workmanship.
