Ubu Nakago with an inscription of 5 Kanji characters.
This inscription is of the 1st generation of Tadayoshi, and made around Keicho 18th.
There is beautiful double Hamon.
The blade length is 2 Shaku 2 Sun 9Bu and a half.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Hizen Kuni Tadayoshi. belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.

Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.

Shape: The blade is wide and thick with sori and longer kissaki, which is Keicho period’s style.
Jigane: Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon: Niedeki Suguha, double Hamon Kuichigai style. Hamon is bright and clear. Boshi is round shape with Hakikake style.
Special feature: Tadayoshi the 1st gen is a master shinto swordsmith, ranked alongside Kunihiro of Kyoto as one of the best shinto swordsmiths, and is designated as the best Oowazamono.
He was born in 1572 in Hizen as the son of a samurai family. In 1596, he moved to Edo by order of his clan to study sword making under Umetada Myouhu school. After returning to his hometown in 1598, he became a master craftsman of the Nabeshima family of the Saga domain. His first nenkisaku (annual works) began in 1600.
The Tadayoshi family, with the exception of 2nd gen and 7th gen, used the name of Tadayoshi. Tadayoshi the 1st gen is called Goji (5 character) Tadayoshi to distinguish him from other Tadakichi because he initially inscribed his name in five characters, “Hizen Koku Tadayoshi” (肥前国忠吉). Later, he inscribed it “Hizen Koku Junin Tadayoshi,” etc., and changed the name to Tadahiro after receiving Musashi Daijo in 1624.
This sowrd has clean nakago and the jigane of it is wonderful Hizen jigane, and it has been polished nicely.
It is thought have been imitating tegai, and the doubled hamon has atmosphere of and old piece.
