Sayagaki: Kikuchi, Senbon Yari.
Ubu-Nakago, a rare and precious masterpiece.
This Yari was made by Enju Kunikura in the Kamakura period around Bunpo era.
The blade length is 6 Sun 1 Bu.
This is requested by a grandson of the Kikuchi family.
Mr. Kikuchi Takemaro received it.
Mr. Kinoshita Ken, first mayor of Kikuchi city in Octber 1956.

We divide four sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku, and Regular Saku. This piece is ranked as Jyo Saku for a Mumei (Kikuchi Yari) work.
Polished.
Blade length: 18.6 cm (7.32 in).
Curvature: Inside curvature.
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base: 2.0 cm (0.79 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 1.06 cm (0.42 in).
Era: Late Muromachi period.
Shape: This is a very rare spear with a long tang and a short point, round in cross-section, with a groove carved and the ridge near the tip altered, making for a unique shape.
Jigane: The skin is tight koitame hada, with a clear reflection, making for a beautiful jigane.
Hamon: The hamon is a fine ko-nie deki straight pattern with double hamon, showing a variety of changes with fine streaks.

Features: The Kikuchi Yari has been produced since the Kamakura period, mainly forged by Enju Kunitoki. The interesting point of this piece is that it is round in cross-section, which is extremely rare.

Aoi Art’s Comment: The Sayagaki is inscribed with “Kamakura Bunpo,” but as it is a consignment item, it has been evaluated as an NBTHK Hozon Token.
