Shape: The sword is a slightly curved tanto with a thicker kasane.
Steel Pattern (Jihada): The blade has a well-defined itame hada pattern.
Temper Line (Hamon): The hamon features a straight temper line with a gentle
midareba (irregular pattern) and a deep nioiguchi (temper line border).

Characteristics: Typically, Bizen Osafune Sukekane swords have a plain steel surface, but this particular piece features a distinct hada pattern. Additionally, the hamon is characterized by a calm midare pattern, different from Sukekane’s usual tight midare
pattern, and it features a deep nioiguchi. The temper line transitions into a straight temper pattern near the tip, forming a small rounded end.

Saya (Scabbard): Decorated with blue shell inlays
Kozuka: Shakudo Nanako, Shishi dog is engraved with gold color.
Kogatana: signed “Horikawa Ju Kunihiro”
Tsuka (Handle): Decorated with scattered blue shells and engraved with peony in silver.

From Aoi Art: This is a Tenpō-era work by Sukemori of the famous Osafune
school. It is truly a well-crafted piece.
