Due to the Tokugawa shogunate’s sword-bearing ban (on March 15, Kanbun 8), it is imagined that many swordsmiths were unemployed at once. As a result, it is said that many swordsmiths turned to making blades and agricultural tools due to the crackdown after incidents involving outlaws like Hatamotoyakko Chohei.
