Shape: The sword has a wide body, a thick rim, and a deep curvature with an elongated tip, resembling the shape of swords from the Kan’ei era. It is a beautiful piece.
Jigane: Well-tightened small Mokume grain, almost Muji, indicating a finely forged Jigane.
Hamon: Nie-deki with a deep Nioiguchi, showing a well-engaged Midareba pattern with active Ashi and Kinsuji, extending to the cutting edge. The workmanship is excellent with visible Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
Features: Kunihiro is the son of Hirosada and his works are very similar to those of his father. He was known as Hashishita Rokurozaemon, resembles the work of his father.
Aoi Art’s Comment: From the blade’s edge to the Yokote lines, this deep Nioiguchi with a Midareba pattern continues, and the Boshi turns back in a rounded shape. This piece, with its deep curvature and slightly extended tip, represents a beautiful shape of the Kan’ei era.
