This blade is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among the works of Bitchu no Kuni Mizuta ju Kunishige Saku.
Habaki: Single-layer copper habaki.
Blade Length: 42.5 cm (16.73 in).
Curvature: 0.9 cm (0.35 in).
Mekugi Hole: 2 (1 plugged).
Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.29 cm (1.30 in).
Width at Yokote: 2.46 cm (0.97 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.62 cm (0.24 in).
Sword Weight: 420 g.
Era: Edo period, around the Kanbun era (1661-1673).
Shape: A robust wakizashi with wide mihaba and thick kasane.
Bohi are carved on both sides of the blade, and the blade has an elongated kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada.
Hamon: Nie-deki notare mixed with gunome-midare.
The boshi continues into an irregular midare pattern.

Features: The Mizuta school of Kunishige had continued from the late Muromachi period, before the Keicho era, and is known for producing blades with a rustic character and prominent ara-nie.
This example by Bitchu no Kuni Mizuta ju Kunishige is considered to be the work of around the fourth-generation Kunishige, who is said to have been the nephew of Ichizo Kunishige.
