Aoi Art’s Comment:This is a work by Bizen no Kuni Osafune Yosazaemon Sukesada, featuring a 俗名 (zokumyo, common name) inscription.
During the late Muromachi period, many swords, including tantos, were mass-produced, and swords with zokumyo inscriptions were said to be rare among those owned by daimyo.
This piece also follows that trend, featuring a zokumyo inscription and only a single mekugi hole, suggesting that it was well cared for.
This is a highly recommended piece.
