Shape: An unsigned blade with ō-suriage modification. Standard width and thickness.
The blade features a bohi (groove) and an extended kissaki.
Jigane: Very dense jigane, bright and clear in appearance.
Hamon: Nioi-based suguha with ko-ashi entering and activity of double hamon (nijūba).
The boshi is hakikake.
A beautiful and tightly forged blade in the Yamato tradition.
Features: Tegai Kanetoshi was a swordsmith of the Yamato Tegai school and a student of Tegai Kanehiro.
The first generation is said to have worked around the Eitoku era in the Nanbokucho period (circa 1381–1384).
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Iron tsuba of an unusual shape, inlaid with sayagata pattern in gold.
Signature: Yoshihisa (良久).
Fuchi: Silver base engraved with dragons and waves.
Signature: Fujii Yoshitaka (藤井義敬).
Kashira: Plain (no decoration).
Saya (Scabbard): Black ro-iro lacquer saya with carved diagonal patterns.
Menuki: Shakudo nanakoji with paulownia crests (kiri mon) in gold.
Aoi Art’s Comment: This is an unsigned blade attributed to Tegai Kanetoshi, likely made around the mid-Muromachi period (circa 1452).
The jigane is exceptionally refined and beautifully forged.
