This work is ranked as Jyo Saku for Kanesada and Kanetaku.
Habaki: Solid copper, single layer with gold-colored finish.
Blade Length: 53.0 cm (20.87 in).
Curvature: 1.1 cm (0.43 in).
Mekugi Hole: 2.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 2.64 cm (1.04 in).
Width at Tip (Sakihaba): 1.81 cm (0.71 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.68 cm (0.27 in).
Sword Weight: 0.58 g.
Era: Mid Muromachi period (around the 16th century).
Shape: A wakizashi with substantial thickness, approaching the length of a katana.
Partially shortened with machi-okuri.
Jigane: Very well-forged and tightly packed steel, showing high quality.
Hamon: Nie-deki, gunome-midare mixed with pointed gunome.
Kinsuji activity is present, and the boshi is midare-komi.
Features: This wakizashi is signed “Kanesada” on the front and “Kanetsune” on the reverse.
It is presumed that it was made by a father and son, or a master and his disciple.
Historical Background: From around the Eisho era of the Muromachi period (1504–1521).
Due to its high quality, it is thought to be the work of the first-generation Kanesada.
The signatures Kanesada and Kanetsune are distinctly divided.
The hamon is अत्यに beautiful.
This wakizashi has been polished in sashikomi style.
The hamon appears clearly, with distinct pointed gunome and visible kinsuji activity.
The signature makes this a particularly interesting work.
