Shape: Suriage, mumei, with wide motohaba, long kissaki, and deep curvature.
Jigane: The hada is well-forged and clearly visible.
Hamon: Straight hamon with fine double lines appearing, containing ko-ashi, and a rounded boshi.
Features: Dotanuki Masakuni was a swordsmith of the Dotanuki school active in Higo Province (present-day Kumamoto) during the Muromachi period. He was also known as Koyama Uenosuke and is famous for his excellent cutting ability. It is also a well-balanced and highly popular sword.

Tsuba: Mokko-shaped with openwork carving, in Nanban style.
Fuchikashira: Iron base with carved plant design.
Saya (Scabbard): Black roiro lacquered saya.
