Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Token)(Menuki : NBTHK Hozon Tosogu)

Sayagaki by Mr. Tanobe:
The nakago is ubu and bears an eight-character signature. The smith is known as one of the Three Great Swordsmiths of Owari. This work has the typical sugata of a Keicho-shinto blade and displays a stately, flowing notare-based hamon with variations, a style in which the smith particularly excelled. It is a fine work that fully demonstrates the true essence of his craftsmanship.

We divide works in to Saijo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku,and Regular Saku.

Shape: slightly wide and thick blade with long kissaki. Boshi and Soehi is carved on the both sides.
Jigane: Koitame and Komokume with Chikei and jinie.
Hamon: Notare and Gunome with tight and clear nioikuchi.

Features:
Hida no Kami Ujifusa was a swordsmith of Owari and is counted among the Three Great Swordsmiths of Owari. Together with his father, Wakasa no Kami Ujifusa, who served as a retained swordsmith of Oda Nobunaga, he moved from Mino to Owari. During his youth, he served the Oda clan as a page. After his lord, Oda Nobutaka, was defeated in the struggle over Nobunaga's succession and forced to take his own life, Ujifusa turned to swordsmithing and studied under his father, Wakasa no Kami Ujifusa, and Hoki no Kami Nobutaka. In Tensho 1592, he received the honorary title Hida no Kami.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Copper tsuba with an openwork tomoe design.
Menuki: Solid gold menuki carved with kikyō (bellflower) and arabesque motifs. Unsigned (Mino). NBTHK Hozon Tosogu.
Fuchikashira: Carved with autumn grasses and decorated with gold iroe.
Saya (Scabbard): Black stone-textured lacquered saya with carved grooves.
