This blade is ranked as Jyo Saku among works attributed to Mumei (Mito Masakatsu).
Habaki: Double habaki with gold iroe.
Blade Length: 70.8 cm (27.87 in).
Curvature: 1.4 cm (0.55 in).

Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.37 cm (1.33 in).
Width at Yokote: 2.62 cm (1.03 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.75 cm (0.30 in).
Sword Weight: 995 g.
Era: Late Edo period, Shinshinto.
Shape: A robust and powerfully built blade.
Jigane: Predominantly masame hada.
Hamon: Suguha with double and triple yakiba. Kuichigai-ba is present, while the boshi also forms double and triple yakiba and finishes in yakitsume, creating a highly varied appearance.

Features: This is a substantial blade forged during the late Edo period. It was attributed to Mito Masakatsu by the NBTHK Sword Museum. The pronounced masame hada is characteristic of Mito workmanship. The boshi displays multiple layers of activity before ending in yakitsume, giving the blade a particularly distinctive appearance. There are some light scuff marks on the blade, suggesting that it may have been used for batto practice. As it is already mounted in koshirae, it would also be suitable for iaido or batto practice.
