Era: late Kamakura period, 13-14th century
Shape: slightly wide and slightly carved blade with Ubunakago. It features thickness of shinogi line making the blade heavy.
Jigane: Itame and Mokume with chikei.
Hamon: Suguha and Notare with Nie making Ko-ashi and Sunagashi.

Features: The Shikkake school, one of the Five Schools of Yamato, was founded by Norinaga and flourished from the late Kamakura period through the Nanbokucho period.
This work is a long and substantial sword with a high shinogi, displaying the typical tachi fprm characteristic of the Shikkake school. It is particularly rare to find an example with only one mekugi-ana. The jigane is also beautifully forged, and the hamon is rich in activity, offering many points of interest and appreciation.
