This blade is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among the works of Echizen Kuni Ju Kanenori.
Habaki: Single gold-foiled habaki.
Blade Length: 45.1 cm (17.76 in).
Curvature: 1.0 cm (0.39 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.22 cm (1.27 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.62 cm (0.24 in).
Sword Weight: 360 g.
Era: Muromachi period.
Shape: Ubu nakago with the tang slightly trimmed. The blade is beautifully carved with a kurikara dragon on the omote, above which are double bohi. The ura is carved with a kenmaki-ryu, a bonji character, and double bohi.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada producing a clean and refined steel surface.
Hamon: Nie-deki ko-gunome-midare with slightly pointed elements, the boshi returning strongly.

Features: Echizen Kuni Ju Kanenori was the son of the Mino smith Kanenori and later received the honorary title of Higo Daijo. This blade displays the characteristic Mino-style hamon, with active ko-ashi and yo working within the temper. It is a hamon that suggests excellent cutting performance.

Koshirae:

Tsuba: Mokko-shaped iron tsuba with a high-relief dragon. The rim is fitted with a silver fukurin.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo ground with a high-relief dragon, highlighted with gold iroe.
Saya (Scabbard): Glossy black lacquered saya.
Menuki: Dragon motif carved in shakudo and decorated with gold iroe.
Kozuka: Shakudo nanako ground carved with a dragon and clouds, highlighted with gold iroe.
Including kogatana.

Historical Background: Around the Tensho era (1573), near the end of the Muromachi period and the beginning of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, Oda Nobunaga expelled the 15th shogun, Ashikaga Yoshiaki, from Kyoto, bringing the approximately 240-year Muromachi Shogunate to an end. This marked the beginning of Nobunaga's full-scale campaign to unify Japan. The Battle of Ichijodani, fought in the 8th month of Tensho 1 (September 1573), was a Sengoku-period battle between Oda Nobunaga and Asakura Yoshikage, and is also known as the Battle of Tonegasaka.
