Features: Bizen had long been famous as a center of sword production. When the demand for swords increased rapidly during the Muromachi period, as wars broke out in various regions, the Osafune Sukesada school became one of the largest groups of swordsmiths of the time, establishing a division-of-labor system and producing large numbers of swords bearing the same name. Just as high-end brands handle both lower-priced products and custom-made items for elite clients, the Sukesada school also produced a wide range of swords—from practical blades meant to be consumed in battle to high-quality custom works made to order for daimyo and high-ranking samurai.
