The workmanship of this piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for Hizen no Kuni Saga Ju Masahiro (1st generation).
Habaki: Single-layer silver habaki.
Blade Length: 38.3 cm (15.08 in).
Curvature: 0.7 cm (0.28 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 2.72 cm (1.07 in).
Width at Yokote (Sakihaba): 2.3 cm (0.91 in).
Thickness (Kasane): 0.6 cm (0.24 in).
Sword Weight: 345 g.
Shape: It is thought that during the Edo period this blade formed part of a daisho set.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada, well forged, forming a fine and refined steel surface.
Hamon: Nie-deki, gunome midare.
It is an excellent work in which white clouds floating in a blue sky appear vividly, with lightning-like activity rising through them.
The deep nioiguchi makes this a splendid piece.

Features: Hizen no Kuni Saga Ju Masahiro (1st generation) was the son of Yoshinobu, commonly known as Sadenjiro, later called Tōshichibei.
His first name was Masanaga, and in Kaei 2 (1849) he changed his name to Masahiro.
In Kaei 5 (1852) he received the title of Kawachi Daijo.
He passed away on February 5, Kanbun 5 (1665) at the age of 59.

Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako ground with high-relief floral design and colored details.
Saya (Scabbard): Glossy black roiro saya.
Menuki: Shakudo ground carved with pine trees.

Aoi Art’s Comment: This is a first-generation Hizen no Kuni Saga Ju Masahiro.
The hamon resembles towering nyudo-gumo clouds drifting across the sky, with a thick nioiguchi creating a magnificent landscape.
