the blade cut through two bodies with a single stroke on June 19th, Kanbun 1 (1661).

Chukoto: Chujo Saku: Ecchu, around Oei (1394-1428).
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku).
The workmanship of this piece is ranked as Jyo Saku for Uda Kunimune.

Habaki: Single-layer silver.
Blade Length: 54.3 cm (21.38 in).
Curvature: 1.4 cm (0.55 in).
Mekugi Hole: 2.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.09 cm (1.22 in).
Width at Yokote: 2.20 cm (0.87 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.66 cm (0.26 in).
Sword Weight: 545 g.
Era: Edo period, around Kanbun era, 17th century

Shape: wide and thick blade with slight curvature and long kissaki.
Jigane: Itame mixed with Mokume
Hamon: Nie deki Suguha with Notare and Gunome with rough nie.

Features: Uda Kunimune is a school of swordsmith from Nanbokucho to The Edo period. This sword is from the early Edo period. Since the blade bears a test-cutting inscription dated Kanbun 1 (1661), it is considered to be from the same period.
