Members of this school characteristically used the character “Shige” (重) in their signatures, but relatively few of their works are known today. This blade is a fine example of a hitatsura (full temper) work and is also of considerable historical importance, as it bears the date of the Eikyo 10 (1438), making it a valuable reference piece.
