Era: Around the Kanbun era of the Edo period (1661-1673).
Shape: A solid work with thick mihaba and thick kasane, featuring a relatively long boshi.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada, well-forged, forming a refined steel surface.
Hamon: Nie-deki, gunome-midare. Fine gunome appear from the hamon edge, becoming larger further along, with a rounded boshi.

Features: Echizen ju Kaneshige is not particularly well-known among Echizen smiths, however the workmanship is excellent. He was likely a diligent swordsmith who worked hard under his master. As this is a high-quality piece, it is highly recommended.
