Feature: Iwamoto Konkan was a renowned metalsmith of sword fittings in the late Edo period. He studied under Iwamoto Ryokan and became the sixth-generation successor of the Iwamoto family. The Iwamoto school originally belonged to the Yokoya school of metalworkers, and Konkan incorporated techniques from the Nara school to establish his own unique style.
This work features inlays on a shibuichi nanako-ji with orchids depicted in a realistic and three-dimensional manner.
