Chounsai Tsunatoshi Saku Kore(2nd generation)/Genji 1 Nen Kinoene 3 Gatsu Hi (March 1864)

Special feature: Chounsai Tsunatoshi the First forged this katana at Edo in 1846. Born Kato Hachiro
in Dewa province, present Yamagata pref. as the Third son of Izumi (No) Kami Kunihide in 1798,
learned under Suishinshi Masahide. Kato Tsunahide, known as its excellent Toran-ba hamon was
Tsunatoshi’s elder brother. Tsunehide moved to Osaka from Edo and learned under Suzuki Harukuni.
After that Tsunahide went to Kyushu Island and forged sword at Kumamoto.
Around 1823, he lived a house of the Uesugi family at Azabu in Edo.
He passed away in 1863, aged 66.
This sword is 2nd generation Tsunatoshi.
He also made sword like first generation Tsunatoshi.

Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 2.575 cm or 1.03 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.11 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Shape : Osuriage Mumei Wakizashi.
There are Boshi on both side of the blade.
The Kissaki is long.
Jigane : The mixture of Ko-Itame Hada and Mokume Hada
with thick Jinie. Thre are chikei and Utsuri.
Hamon : Nioideki, Suguha with Notare.
There are many Ashi. The Nioikuchi is thick and soft.
