This blade is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among the works of Yamato no Kami Yoshimichi.
Habaki: Double-layer gold-covered habaki.

Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.09 cm (1.22 in).
Width at Yokote: 2.09 cm (0.82 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.73 cm (0.29 in).

Era: Edo period, around the Kanbun era (1661-1673).
Shape: A substantial wakizashi with wide mihaba and thick kasane.
The curvature is moderate and well balanced.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada producing excellent quality steel.
Hamon: Gunome-midare beginning from the hamachi, with active ashi throughout.
The boshi returns in a rounded form.

Features: Yamato no Kami Yoshimichi (1st Generation), whose personal name was Mishina Usaemon, was the second son of the first-generation Osaka Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi.
He was particularly known for his distinctive kobushi-gata choji-midare hamon.

Historical Background: The Tenna era (1681-1684) followed shortly after Tokugawa Tsunayoshi became the fifth shogun and marked a significant transition in Tokugawa government policy from military rule toward civil administration influenced by Confucian ideals.
One of the best-known events of this period was the execution of Yaoya Oshichi in 1683.
The tragic story of the 15- or 16-year-old girl, who is said to have committed arson in an attempt to see her lover again and was subsequently executed by burning, later became a popular subject in Kabuki and Joruri theater.
Another important event was the promulgation of the Tenna revision of the Buke Shohatto (Laws for the Military Houses) in 1683.
Under Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, these regulations were revised to emphasize Confucian virtues such as literary and military accomplishment, loyalty, and filial piety.
