Although the Bizen Osafune school was severely affected by the flooding of the Yoshii River in the late 16th century, and subsequently declined, its surviving lineage later prospered as the Yokoyama school in the late Edo period. This work displays a brilliant and flamboyant hamon. Tight Nioikuchi with active ko-ashi and yō appearing throughout the temper line, revealing characteristic features of the Sue-Bizen tradition and Yokoyama school.
