Sword weight: 160 grams
Era: Early Muromachi period, 1419.
Shape: Wide blade with a bohi carved on the omote, within which a ken is engraved.
On the ura, a bohi is carved with a bonji inscription.
Jigane: Well-forged steel with utsuri appearing.
Hamon: Straight temper line with deep hardening; the boshi is round and turns back.
Features:
The Bishu no Kuni Yoshii school is a group of swordsmiths said to have worked in the Yoshii River basin in the same region as the Osafune school, but extant works are few.
This piece, bearing an Oei era date, is also valuable as a historical piece.
