Dewa Daijō Fujiwara Kunimichi
This is a hira-zukuri small wakizashi bearing an eight-character signature. The hamon is a lively and expansive midare pattern based on the smith’s favored notare mixed with gunome. The nioi is thickly covered with nie, and the bōshi is finished in a Sanpin-style manner. Overall, it is a typical and particularly well-executed example of his work.

Features:
Dewa Daijō Fujiwara Kunimichi is regarded as one of the most prominent smiths among the disciples of Horikawa Kunihiro. He is believed to have been born around 1576, with his latest works thought to date to around 1657. He likely received the title of Dewa Daijō around 1614.
His jigane often appears rough-textured with a prominent grain, frequently showing flowing masame. The hamon is bright and clear, featuring active hataraki such as sunagashi and kinsuji within the temper, creating a striking and highly appreciable visual effect.
