Sayagaki: (translaton)
The tang is in katayama shape and bears a two-character signature, accompanied by a date of the first year of Eishō (1504). From these features, the work is considered to be by Tomoshige. The style of this smith shows a distinctive blend of the style of Bizen and Seki.
This piece displays a slightly dark itame-hada, with a hamon of wide-based gunome-midare. The temper line includes pointed elements and tobiyaki (scattered temper), forming a lively and dynamic pattern. The workmanship is highly commendable, and the sword also holds strong value as a reference example for the study of the Kashū Fujishima school.
Blade length: 1 shaku 8 sun 9 bu.

The workmanship of this piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for Fujishima.

Shape: short Katana made for one-hand use, that is typical length for this age.
Jigane: beautifully forged packed Koitame patterns.
Hamon: Nie base Gunome and pointed gunome with Boshi with midare.

Features: The Fujishima school is a group of swordsmiths originally from Echizen Fujishima, said to have moved to Kaga Province during the Nanbokuchō period, and it continued until the Edo period. They are also known to have signed with the name Tomoshige.
This work is a valuable piece bearing a date from the Eishō era, with a well-forged, finely compacted jigane patterns of excellent quality and beauty.
