Era: Edo period, around Kanbun era (1661–1673)
Shape: A wakizashi with wide mihaba, slightly thick kasane, and moderate curvature.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada, forming a refined jigane.
Hamon: Toranba with a deep nioiguchi, resembling the popular toranba style of Sukeshiro at the time. From the hamachi, a deep nioiguchi suguha transitions into a toranba-style pattern with variations in height. The boshi turns back in a round shape.
Features: The second generation Echigo no Kami Kanesada was a disciple and adopted son of the first generation.
In Enpo 8 (1680), he yielded the name to the biological son of the first generation and changed his name to Sakakura Gennojō Terukane.
Particularly in his later works, he produced flamboyant toranba in the style of Sukeshiro, and is highly regarded as one of the leading masters of the Shinto period.

Tsuba: Round iron tsuba with openwork carving of a willow tree and bird.
Fuchikashira: Iron ground with plum blossoms depicted in gold and silver.
Saya (Scabbard): Black roiro lacquer saya.
Menuki: Shakudo ground with high relief carving of flowers with gold inlay.
Kozuka: Shakudo ground with tea utensils carved and decorated with gold inlay.
Aoi Art’s Comment: Echigo no Kami Kanesada was a master who emulated the toranba style of Sukeshiro.
It is said that some of his works even surpass those of Sukeshiro.
