肥前国忠吉(8代)(無保証)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku).
This blade is ranked as Jyo Saku among the works signed Hizen no Kuni Tadayoshi (authenticity not guaranteed).
Habaki: Double gold-foiled habaki.
Blade Length: 2 shaku 4 sun 1 bu, approximately 73.03 cm (28.75 in).
Curvature: 6 bu, approximately 1.82 cm (0.72 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.1 cm (1.22 in).
Width at Yokote: 2.45 cm (0.96 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.7 cm (0.28 in).
Sword Weight: 865 g.
Era: Late Edo period.
Shape: A beautifully proportioned katana with a wide mihaba, thick kasane, deep curvature, and an elongated kissaki.
The blade retains its original unsharpened edge (ubu-ba).
Jigane: Beautifully refined and tightly forged ko-itame hada, displaying fine-quality steel.
Hamon: Suguha hamon with a tightly defined pattern, differing from the workmanship typically seen in Tadayoshi blades.
Small ashi activity is visible in the upper portion of the blade.

Features: Although this sword has an NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Token certificate, I have doubts about its authenticity.
Unfortunately, I cannot recognize the signature as genuine.
Therefore, this sword is being offered for sale as gimei (false signature).

Koshirae:
Tsuba: A mokko-shaped iron tsuba carved with a wave and plover (nami-chidori) design, decorated with gold iroe.
NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Tosogu: Mumei (Attributed to Shoami Katsuyoshi).
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako fittings carved with a figure riding a horse, decorated with gold iroe.
Menuki: Carved with human figures and decorated with gold and silver iroe.
Saya (Scabbard): Black ishime-ji (stone-textured) lacquer saya.

Aoi Art’s Comment: This is a long katana with a blade length exceeding 2 shaku 4 sun, accompanied by an impressive and beautifully crafted koshirae.
The sword is very well made, but I believe its hamon and jigane differ from those normally associated with Hizen no Kuni Tadayoshi.

NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Token.
Tsuba: NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Tosogu.
