Although unsigned, the inscription on the larger tsuba appears to read "Bushū-jū Yoshifusa." These matching daisho tsuba are crafted from polished iron and formed in an unusual, irregular shape. Both are decorated with openwork carvings depicting a male and female ox, creating a harmonious paired design. The bold silhouette and skillfully executed sukashi work reflect the aesthetic sensibilities and craftsmanship of Edo-period sword fittings.
