Features: Ono Yoshimitsu was born in Kurosaki Town, Nishikanbara District, Niigata Prefecture. He studied under Yoshihara Yoshindo and continued his training. In 1975 (Showa 50), he received the Encouragement Award, and in 1976 (Showa 51), he established his own forging studio.
In 1980, he won the Effort Award, Encouragement Award, and the Prince Takamatsu Award.
In 1987 (Showa 62), he was recognized as a Mukansa swordsmith. His works, especially the "Yamatorige Utsushi," are highly regarded, and his "Ju-hana-choji" pattern is particularly esteemed.
