Tegai is a school of Yamato-togi (forging technique) and is said to be a branch of the Nara school of Yamato-togi, with Bao Nagayasu considered its founder. In Yamato, there were several schools such as Osa, Shiriken, Hosho, Senshuin, and Tegai, among which the Tegai school produced many swords with straight temper patterns.
