Special feature : Satsuma province produced excellent swordsmiths
under the patronage of the Shimazu family. Motohira, born as a son
of retaind swordsmith Oku Motonao in 1744 was a representative swordsmith
in early Shin-to period. Motohira succeeded the headship of family in 1777
and was appointed Yamato (No) Kami in 1789. His younger brothers Mototake
and Motoyasu were also excellent swordsmith
and their collaboration still survives. Motohira passed away in 1826, aged 83.
This blade was made in 1782 at the age of 38.

Sori : 0.9 cm or 0.35 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 2.23 cm or 0.87 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.20 cm or 0.86 inches.
Kasane : 0.70 cm or 0.27 inches.
Weight of the blade : 800 grams.
Shape : Wide and thick blade with small Sori. healthy Katana.
Jigane : Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
There are Chikei. The Jigane looks like Hojoji school.
Hamon : From Hamachi is Suguha and then Juzuba with many Ashi.
In Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji. The Hamon is bright.
