Special feature : Katou Chousai Tsunatoshi is the third son of Katou Izuminokami Kunihide
He worked as a smith in Uesugi family, the owner of Dewa Yonezawa domain. Katou Tsunayoshi
Katou Tsunahide are his real brother. Both has studied douranba hamon
and Bizenden by Suishinshi Masahide in Edo.
Tsunahide leaves number of douranba pieces yet those are rather stern pieces and valued rather low quality
compared with Masahide. Some of his good pieces are BIzenden with gonome midair ha.
He has many students like koyama Munetsugu, Takahashi Naganobu and Seryuken Moritoshi and so on.
Especially he liked Seryuken Moritoshi personally.
His second generation Tsunatoshi went Suo province to study from Seryuken Moritoshi .
Both Tsunatoshi and Koyama munetsugu's hamon is very similar.
some differences are mentioned following. Koyama Munetsugu's boshi is midarekomi style,
on the other hand Tsunatoshi's Gunome midair divided 2 prices clover style
and round shaped hamon(70%)boshi hamon.
This Tsunatoshi hamon is midarekomi boshi which is rare hamon.
The sword is wide and thick and long sword with healthy and good work.
At Edo period Tenpo era, there are many famous sword makers were trying to make nice sword.
So if you see the nice deki(hamon and jigane) ,the sword might be made at Tenpo era.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
habaki:Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 38.6cm or 15.19 inches.
Sori : 0.8cm or 0.31 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.03 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.49cm or 0.98 inches.
Kasane : 0.58 cm or 0.22 inches.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick Hirauchi style wakizashi.
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attach and small chikei wonderful nice texture.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair with thick nioikuchi Doranba style.
IIn Hamon, there are manna sunagashi and small kinsuji work like silver sand.
