Shape: O-suriage mumei.
A deeply curved blade with bohi (groove) carved on both sides and an extended kissaki (long point).
Jigane: Ko-itame-hada, well-forged with visible grain and a refined surface.
Hamon: Nioi-based suguha with ko-ashi, developing into irregularities toward the upper portion.
The boshi is long and shows irregular turns.
Features:
Rai Kuniyasu was a swordsmith who moved from the Rai school to Echizen.
He combined the stylistic elements of the Rai tradition with the characteristics of Echizen smiths.
Although some references date his work to the late Kamakura period, it is believed this sword was actually forged in the late Nanbokucho to early Oei period.
His works are generally bright in appearance, with visible hada and often show utsuri.
