(Chu Koto, Nanbokucho period, Owazamono (very sharpness cut well sword ranking) (Bizen school.)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyo-jyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length: 54.2 cm or 21.33 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi: 2.86 cm or 1.12 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki: 2.11 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.52 cm or 0.20 inches.
Jidai (era): Nanbokucho period.

Shape: This blade is wide Osuriage Wakizashi with good Sori and middle-size Kissaki.
On both sides of the blade, there are Bou-hi.
Jitetsu: Itame Hada grained with Jinie attach and Yubashiri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki Gunome midare and Chouji midare are mixed.
In Ha, there are Ashi and Yo and Sunagashi and Niesuji.
Boushi is Hakikake, Midarekomi style.

Special feature: It is said that Kanenaga studied under the Nagayoshi.
His blades that has signature are very rare.
But it is known that he worked in the Nanbokucho period, because of Nenki engraving.
This blade is Osuriage Mumei, but this blade has glitter much Nie. (It is Soden Bizen blades’ feature.)
And Deki is excellent.

The previous owner of this sword was Dr.Compton who was managing
a pharmaceutical company and collected many Japanese swords
during his life. He passed away and sold all of his swords at the auction.
The sword was sold at the Christie’s auction’s in March 31th,1992.
According to the book, the estimate price was US$40,000.00- to US$60,000.00-
The blade is mentioned at the catalogue page 159.
The blade is healthy with fantastic Jigane and also active Hamon.
We strongly recommend this excellent sword with Koshirae and Kiribox.

Koshirae :
Tsuba: On the iron plate, a dragon and Kanji are engraved with gold color.
Fuchi: On the Shakudo plate, Kiri Kamon (family crest) and Karakusa
the pattern is engraved with gold color.
Saya : black roiro saya.
Menuki: On the gold plate, Tiger is engraved.
Kozuka : Signature: Etsunori
On the shakudo Nanako plate, scene of men pulling the big rock
is engraved with gold color.
And on the back, Kanji are painted with gold color.
