Era : The Jouou era, the Edo period.
Shape : The width at Hamachi is very wide and it is also thick with adequate Sori and slightly longer Kissaki. Well-shaped.
Jigane : Koitamehada is dense with Jinie and Utsuri. Beautiful Jigane. There is Ware on Shinogiji of Sashiura(back).
Hamon : Koniedeki chojimidare and Togari-Chojimidare. Gorgeous and bright Hamon which reminds us of Yoshioka Ichimonji.

Special feature: Taishin Hokyo Minamoto Mitsuhira, also known as Dewa Nyudo Taishin Hokyo Minamoto Mitsuhira, was born in Koshu Gamogun and later he moved to Edo and made only Chojimidare to trace Ichimonji. He is thought to be the best Ichimonji tracer among all Shinto swordsmiths. So, many of his swords were changed to Suriage Mumei to produce fake old swords. Shinogiji tends to be Masame and the shape is Shinto-shape, so you will know the obvious difference between Koto and Shinto when you appreciate it closely and carefully. It is really well-made and nowadays it is really difficult to find his works with this long Mei engraved.

Koshirae :
Tsuba; Round-shaped iron Tsuba. Patterns are engraved with inlay.
Fuchikashira: On Shakudo plate, chrysanthemum is engraved.
Saya: Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki: Gold plate, Shishi-dogs are engraved. Modern work.

From Aoi Art: This is a rare work by Mitsuhira. Probably it is a made-to-order work. The blade has enough thickness of edge(Nikuoki) and the surface looks like clam shell. In Ji, Utsuri appears and gorgeous Hamon of Ichimonji trace works. It is polished in an old way, so it is very nicely-polished with dignity. Calm and silent beauty. Koshirae is also not too gorgeous. We truly recommend this rare work to you.
