Explanation: This sword was made by Jokeishi Masaaki
for the Katano Toshisada of 5years old who is a son of Shogunal retainer in August1839.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs toJyo Jyo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki :silver single habaki.
Blade length :  52.4 cm or 20.62 inches.
Sori :1.6 cm or 0.62 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 2.56cm or 1.00 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.54 cm or 0.60 inches.
Kasane : 0.68cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Tenpo era.
Shape : The blade is regular width
and wider thickness woth deep sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jigane :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beutiful clean texture.
Hamon :Nioi deki cyoji midare from the hamachi to the Kissaki.
In Hamon, soft Habuchi bright and clear.
Boshi: Midarekomi style.

special feature:: Jyokeishi Masaaki, his real name Takemura Tsunejirou,
was a feudal warrior of Sakushuu Tsuyama domain.
He was a best pupil of Hosokawa Masayoshi.
He lived in Edogawa province.
His pieces are similar to those of his master which most pieces have Jyukka Choji hamon .
The nakago yasuri scrape is clear like his master.
This piece has clear jyukka shoji wild hamon and the ashi or feet is well seen in the ha.
The kinsuji in the ha and the irregular line temper line is imitation of his old pieces.
It is gorgeous sword. The length is almost as same as kana katana size.
On Masaaki’s pieces, many signature that is engraved “It is well forged.
The cutting test is made by the antler of the deer.
it is nice and sharp blade.
We on’t know what is the meaning of Uramei.

Koshirae : Tachi Koshirae.
Saya :black brown color kawari saya.
Tsuba :On the iron plate, brass inlayed
Menuki : solid gold dragon menuki.
Fuchikashira: On the iron plate, the rim is made by gold line.
