This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.

Width at the hamachi : 3.01cm or 1.18 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.99 cm or 0.78 inches.
Kasane :0.65 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanbun era.
Shape : Wide and thick Wakizashi.
Jigane : Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. There are Chikei.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare with thick Nioikuchi.
In Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
Boshi is round shape.

Special feature: Kazusa (No) Suke Fujiwara Kaneshige was
a swordsmith of Musashi province. He served for the Todo family
and also forged sword in Sesshu province, present Mie pref.
His sword is very sharp and ranked at Ryo-wazamono.
It is said that a great swordsman Musashi Miyamoto
treasured Kaneshige’s katana. The distinctive feature appears
on highly-spirited temperline resembled to Kotetsu.

Koshirae :
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, dragon is engraved
with gold color and open work.
Menuki : Shakudo, dragon is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo Nanako, dragon is engraved wih gold color.

From Aoi Art: Kaneshige’s blades cut well, Ryo-Wazamono.
A large number of his blades were designated as a NBTHK Juyo sword.
There are many Kamano Kauemon’s cutting test Kaneshige swords.
It is said that the great swordsman Miyamoto Musashi’s favorite sword was Kaneshige.
Hadori style is similar Kotetsu.
Yamano Kanjuro Narihisa(Hisahide) was a son of Yamano kauemon Nagahisa. In 1685,
he became a person whose occupation is cutting criminal. He has done cutting test
of Nagasone Kotetsu, Izumi Kami Kaneshige, Kazusanosuke Kaneshige,
Yamato Kami Yasusada, Hojoji Masahiro, and so on.
