The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled double Habaki.
Blade length : 35.0 cm or 13.77 inches.
Sori :0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.0cm or 0.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.24 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.

Era : Edo period around Bunsei era(1821)
Shape : Rather wide and thick small size Wakizashi.
There is a slight Ubu-Ba remains.
Jigane : Ko Itame Hada well grained. Mujifu Jigane.
Hamon : From Hamachi is Suguha and then Gunome Midare and Doranba. There are two Tama(spherical Hamon).
Boshi is round shape and Yakisage style.

Special feature: First-generation Chounsai Tsunatoshi was a younger brother of the Tsunahide.
He was born Kansei 10th at Uzen province and worked for Yonezawa family
and called Kato Hachiro. He was third son of the Kato Izumi Kami Kunihide sword maker.
He and his old brother Tsunahide moved to Edo and studied from Suishinshi Masahide
and mastered Doranba hamon and also bizen den.
Especially Tsunahide mastered Doranba hamon perfectly from his master.
He passed away on December 5th, 1822 at the age of 66.

Koshirae :
Saya : Black color Saya with wood grain patten.
Tsuba : Iron, landscape is engraved.
Menuki : Shakudo, person is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo with gold color.
Kozuka: Shaudo Nanako, spear is engraved with silver color.

From Aoi Art: Chounsai Tsunatoshi the 1st studied umder Suishishi Masahide. In the early days, the Masahide succeeded in producing a Doranba Hamon. And he found a defect that the Doranba Hamon’s blade is easy to break. And then he made Ko Gunome Midare, Suguha and Ko Choji Midare Hamon.
However, Doranba Hamon are very popular because they are now being appreciated.
