The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single Habaki.
Blade length : 54.3 cm or 21.37 inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.92 cm or 1.14 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.25 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.57 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanbun era.
Shape : Wide and thick Wakizashi with Sori.
This is long Wakizashi.
Jigane : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
The Jigane is beautiful Osaka Jigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare with many Ashi.
There are Tobiyaki. Boshi is round shape with thick Nioikuchi.
Special feature: zumi (No) Kami Kunisada the First made this wakizashi.
He is known as the father of a famous swordsmith Inoue Shinkai.
Usually this Kunisada is called Oya-Kunisada. Oya means parent in
Japanese. Kunisada the First was born in 1590 in Hyuga province,
present Miyazaki pref. He became a pupil of Horikawa Kunihiro at
Kyoto. Kunisada went to Osaka and trained many excellent pupils.
It has been an accepted opinion that he was the founder of Osaka-
Shinto. Kunisada was approved as the Izumi (No) Kami in 1623.
He passed away in 1652.
The blade is suriage amd Machiokuri nakago but the whole signature is mentioned. The blade looks Nagamaki style unusual shape.
The Jigane is quite nice and also active vivid thick nioikuchi
gunome midare hamon. Boshi is also very active Sosyu style.
Saya : Black color.
Tsuba : Round shape Shakudo (Kenjo)Tsuba.
Menuki : crane is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shibuichi, chinese story is engraved with gold color.
From Aoi-Art: First generation Kunisada became old age, some sword
student made the swords for his master.
His son Inoue Shinkai was also helped to make swords for him
which is called Daisaku(made swords insted of his father)
This singnature called Sosyomei is typical daisaku by Inoue
Shinkai. It is qute interesting that Inoue Shinkai made sword
when he was young age. The blade is wild feeling active hamon.
