Explanation: This Tanto was corroborated Katsumitsu and Munemitsu
in Bunmei 18th August (1486)

Sayagaki was done by Tanobe sensei:
Bizen Kuni Ukyo ryo Katsumitsu do sakyo no sin Munemitsu.
Length is 2 syaku 1 sun 9 bu Han(36,2cm) Tanzan shi.
8ji Mei oyobi Bunmei 18 Nenki aru no ani Katsumitsu
and brother Munemitsu Gassaku Nari Nioigachi no Koshihiraki
no Gunome midare wo yaki bousi togari chiniha suguutsuri
wo arawashi habahiro ni sunnobi sitai de arunado tune skuiki
to kotonari Ouei bizen no hukko na men wo kanchi seshimurru Yuhin Saku.

Explanation: Bizen Osafune Katsumitsu and his brother Munemitsu.
Length is 36.2 cm Tanzan wrote on the diary.
The blade is written 8 characters and Bunmei 18th corroborated
older brother Katsumitsu and younger brother Munemitsu.
The blade is rather stronger nioi deki Kosshihiraki gunome midare
hamon and boshi is togari and Bo-utsuri appear wider blade
with sunnobi style but the hamon and Jigane is slightly different
I find the blade is returning old early Muromachi style.

This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high skill polisher.
Habaki : Gold failed single habaki.
Blade length: 36.2 cm or 15.252 inches.
Sori :0.7 cm or 0.276 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 2.75 cm or 1.08 inches.
Kasane : 0.61cm or 0.24 inches.
The weight of the sword: 260 grams.
Era : Middle Muromachi period Bunmei era 1486.
Shape : The blade is rather bigger hirauchi style wakizashi
and engraved Futasuji Hi on both sides of the blade 
and small sakizori style nice looking shape.
Jigane :Koitame had well grained with jinie attch
and chikei work and bo-utsuri apper on the hamon.
Hamon :Niedeki gunome midare and choji midare mixed
ashi and yo work. Kissaki is togari and tires back sharply.

Special feature: Quite well-known sword maker Katsumitsu
and Munemitsu made many fine swords corroborated older and younger brothers.
They tried to make old style like Ouei Bizen
Munemitsu and Yasumitsu and succeeded.

Koshirae : Aikuchi style Koshire.
Saya: On the ishime ji , some family crests are painted by black urushi.
Kozuka: On the shakudo nanako plate,
some shells re-engraved with gold color.
Menuki: on the shakudo Nanako plate family crest is engraved.

From Aoi Art: The most well grained nice texture was made
by Ouei bizen Morimitsu and Yasumitsu and succeeded this style
to Munemitsu and Katsumitsu. They made wonderful corroborated
swords many items. Tokugawa shogun loved their swords and holder.
Even right now many sword collectors are holding these swords.
This swore is very fine Jigane and utsuri and active nice hamon.
I recommend this high ranking sword.
