Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Bishu Ju Nobutaka
Bunka 3 nen 11 gatsu hi (November 1806)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Nobutaka belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

Shinto : Cyujyo saku ranking : Owari province.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 36.0 cm or 14.17 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.76 cm or 1.08 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo period Bunka era.
Shape : Regular size Wakizashi. There are Bo-Hi and Futasuji-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attach, Niedeki gunome midair up and down and some parts deep nioikuchi.
In Hamon, there are many sunagashi and small kinsuji work.

Special feature : The first generation Nobutaka started from Late Muromachi period.
In Owari province, there are many swordmakers like Hida Kami Ujifusa,
Sagami Kami Masatsune, Ujisada, Hokki Kami Nobutaka and so on.
This blade was made around Edo Bunka era(1806).

Historical background : The Bunka era, the humorous poem is caught on everywhere.
In this time, Jiooensha Ikku wrote Tokaidochu Hizakurige.
