Mitsuyoshi Goto was a metal artisan and the 15th head of the main Goto family. He is said to have succeeded to the family leadership in Tenpō 4 (1833) and to have passed away in Tenpō 14 (1843).
In this work, the kozuka and kogai are made of shakudō nanako ground, carved with a hen and her chicks, and inlaid with gold and silver. The menuki are made of solid gold and depict a pair of chickens.
