Special feature: The word „Go Shori No Tsurugi“ shows his great confidence on this work. Katsumura Norikatsu was born in Mito, originally named Hikoroku. He became a pupil of Kannai Tokumune. Later, he became an employed swordsmith at Mito Domain. He mainly made long swords with Sunagashi and Kinsuji. Most of Katana are Masame-hada. He was said to be influenced by swordsmiths from Hitashi or Tohoku region like Kunikane. He had made Itamehada with Chojimidare as he had been with his master, but eventually he made only Masame-deki strong Jigane. He moved to Edo with his people and made swords in Mito Domain in Isogawa.

From Aoi Art: Generally, it is really difficult to make Masame-hada works, so it is said that swordsmiths of Masame-hada spend all of their lives to make only Masame hada works. Many Katana fans like Masame-hada Jigane because it is really beautiful.. Among all Shinshinto swordsmiths, Kunikane, Tokkatsu, and Kiyondo(pupil of Kiyomaro), and Ichige Norichika had been keenly influenced by Kunikane. Koshirae is nicely-made, we can truly recommend this to you.
