The length of the blade is 72.7cm Heisei gannen Kunzan.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Habaki :Gold wrapped single habaki.
Blade length : 72.7 cm or 28.6 inches.
Sori :2.5cm or 0.98 inches.
Mekugi : 4
Width at the hamachi :2.9cm or 1.14 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98cm or 0.78inches.
Kasane : 0.95cm or 0.374 inches.
Era : Late Heian era to middle Kamakura period 1278. the sword school continued 3rd generation.
Shape : The blade is almost Ubu nakago with deep sori and utsubuse gokoro wonderful nice shape.
Jigane :Koitame hada and mokume hada mixed with utsuri appear on the ji.
Hamon :Koniedeki suguha based doubl ehamon, ashi and yo work and also sunagashi Kinsuji work.

Special feature:The founder of Hirotsugu started from late Heian period to middle Kamakura period. The signature is made on katana mei. The siganture is cut powerful and very clear and also can see the fail mark very clearly.

From Aoi-Art:KObizen and Koaoe are almost same jigane and hamon. The signature is mentioned on the Katana mei.
Aoe scholl made signature on Katana mei from Heian period to Nanbokucyo period which is quite different between other sword makers.
This blade has small oohada but not so bad.
The blade gas kept more than 750 years of ages by Daimyo family. It is surprised that the signature is very powerful and can see the fail marks very clearly. According to the sayagaki, Kunzan sensei judged the blade was made at Koan era Kamakura period. But I think this sword looks more old late Heian era.
Anyway the blade might upgrade from NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper.
