Sayagaki was done by Mr Tanobe sensei:
Suishinshi masahide 5 characters with Kao and also Tenmei era nenki.
This sword was made early stage which means Masahide made
Hukkoto sword later on. He was strongly influenced Sukehiro
and Shinkai which is deep nioikuchi active rwmper line
but He thought thet these deep nioikuchi swords are rather easy
to broke so he decided to make strong swords like suguha
with small gunome midare hamon
which is not good reputation nowadays.
The blade is typical first stage nice jigane and big gunome mmidare
wonderful sword.

Shinshin to:Saijyo saku ranking. Musashi.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki :Gold wrapped single habaki.
Blade length :  71.52cm or 28.15 inches.
Sori : 1.36 cm or 0.53 inches.
Mekugi :1  
Width at the hamachi : 3.14 cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.3 cm or 0.90 inches.
Kasane : 0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy blade
with suitable sori and longer kissaki.
Jigane :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beautiful nice texture.
Hamon :Niedeki suguha from the Hamachi and then gunome midare
with deep nioikuchi and doranba mixed.
Boshi is round shape with deep nioikuchi.

Special feature:Suishinshi Masahide the First forged this katana. Masahide was born in Yamagata pref. in 1750.
It is said that he learned under Kunikane the Forth. Masahide went to Edo and learned under Yoshihide
at the age of 22. Masahide became a retained swordsmith of the Akimoto family and studied the method of making sword
and disciplined pupils. A daimyo; a feudal lord gave Masahide foreign steel called Namban-tetsu to study.
He was fond of brilliant Toran-ba that had a tendency to break so he tried to the revival of Koto aimed at the sharpness.
It is an accepted theory that he was the founder of Shinshin-to.

There are various kind of his signatures pattern with Kao or Kokuin.
Kao is a written seal. Personal device often added to a signature.
Kokuin is a kind of carved seal that is subject to wear so several patterns
of his kokuin survives on his works. On his early works circa Anei to Tenmei era,
he didn’t use the Kokuin. The sword made in the Kansei era,
Masahide used the Kao. He started using the Kokuin around Bunka era
and most of the sword forged in that period bears it on the tang.
He passed away in 1825 aged 76.

Koshirae :
Saya :black rroiro saya.
Tsuba :On the round iron tsuba, kiku floers and leaves
are engraved open work.
Menuki : øn the syakudo plate, some armor instrument.
Fuchikashira:On the syakudo nanako plate, samurai
and matsu tree are engraved with gold color.

From Aoi- Art:As Mr Tanobe sensei wrote the sayagaki, first stage his
Hamon was influenced by Sukehiro or Shinkai.
These first stage his swords are high reputation by sword collectors.
This sword is wide and thick nice excellent jigane and active
Oogunome and doranba hamon.
