This work is an excellent example of the Ayasugi-hada established by his grandather Sadayoshi, who revived the Ayasugi-hada forging pattern originally forged by the Gassan school swordsmiths of the Muromachi period.
This piece reserved in healthy condition with the original edge (Ububa) completely intact.
The inscription on the box was written by the swordsmith himself and reads, “Senzo Denrai Ayasugi no Hijutsu” (The secret technique of Ayasugi handed down from ancestors).
