The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver single habaki.

Era : Showa 13th (1938)
Shape : wide and thick blade. Regular Sori and longer Kissaki.
Jigane :Ko-Itame-hada well grained, Jinie attached beautiful Jihada
Hamon : Ko-Niedeki Choji-nudare and Fukuro Choji-miadare mixed.
Also Togari Choji with Ashi. Boshi is Midarekomi style, edge is sharp.

Special feature: Kansai Shigetsugu was born in 1886 in Shizuoka pref. as a
nephew of Miyairi Ikkansai Shigetoshi who was also a
swordsmith. Shigetsugu learned under his uncle and
Morioka Masayoshi. Shigetsugu went to Tokyo in 1903 and
entered to the Tokiwa-Matsu Token Kenkyu-sho the
Toyama house. Shigetsugu became a chief swordsmith and
made several special swords to present. According to the
inscription on the tang, he forged this katana accepting a
personal order of Mr. Miyagi. Shigetsugu spent his life to
revive and passing down the traditional method of
tempering Japanese sword. Shigetsugu passed away in
1966, aged 80. Miyairi Akihira and Tsukamoto Okimasa
were his famous excellent pupils. Later Miyairi Akihira
became a preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Assets,
popularly known as Living National Treasures. Tsukamoto
Okimasa became Shigetsugu’s son-in-law but died while
still young.

From Aoi Art: This sword was made by representative of Showa sword
smith, Kasama Ikkansai Shigetsugu. It has Elegant Choji-
midare. He was a student of Toyama Mitsuru who was right
wing activist and liked from him. He many sword at Toyama
Mitsuruin his hounse.. This is one of those sword and it still
has Ububa healthy blade.
